In June 2024, the Scottsdale Institute convened 24 participants from seven Member and guest organizations to discuss how large health organizations can apply their capabilities to create a more equitable health delivery system. Hosted by Texas Health Resources and sponsored by Epic, the Summit featured insightful dialogue on topics including structural racism and health disparities, data-driven approaches to addressing the social determinants of health and health literacy.
Participants discussed innovations and exchanged views on these themes:
- A look at how different health systems have approached the desire to remediate health disparities in their home geographies.
- Consideration of the health and well-being of system employees and clinicians as a first step in building equity in the larger community.
- Review of the relationship between health literacy and health equity, and ways to remove language barriers to patient comprehension.
- The possibilities that artificial intelligence holds for building patient trust and improving outcomes.
