Julia Adler-Milstein
Julia Adler-Milstein, PhD is Associate Professor and Director of UCSF’s newly established Center for Clinical Informatics and Improvement Research (CLIIR). Dr. Adler-Milstein is a leading researcher and national thought leader at the intersection of health informatics, health policy, and health system performance. Her research assesses the progress of health IT adoption; the impact of such adoption on healthcare costs and quality; and the relationships between market, organizational, and team structure and health IT use. A core focus of her work is on health information exchange and interoperability.
Dr. Adler-Milstein has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles that have been cited more than 2,000 times. She advises a range of federal and state government agencies on policy strategies to advance effective EHR use and interoperability. She has testified before the US Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, been named one of the top 10 influential women in health IT, and won numerous awards, including the New Investigator Award of the American Medical Informatics Association. Dr. Adler-Milstein holds a Ph.D. in health policy from Harvard University.
