Jerome A. Osheroff, MD, FACP, FACMI, TMIT Consulting, LLC. This Collaborative has been formed to enhance the speed and success with which participating care delivery organizations deploy clinical decision support to address performance improvement imperatives. Nine care delivery organizations are documenting and sharing their target-focused CDS strategies as part of a 6-month pilot project (October ’11 through March ’12) funded by the California Healthcare Foundation. The pilot organizations are focusing initially on VTE prophylaxis (inpatient) and diabetes management (outpatient) for their CDS configuration documentation and sharing efforts. There are over 110 participating individuals in the Collaborative, including members from many other care delivery organizations besides the pilot sites, EHR and other related vendors, federal agencies and others. Scottsdale Institute, along with HIMSS and the Society of Hospital Medicine, are Society Partners in the Collaborative. During this upcoming meeting, the project team will provide an overview of the initiative and current status, and pilot participants will describe their CDS configuration documentation and sharing activities, and the benefits these are bringing to their organization’s performance improvement efforts. All Collaborative participants (and additional SI member guests) will then be invited to share their perspectives on the pilot activities, and implications for scaling this work to include other participating organizations and additional improvement targets. SI members who are not a member of the Collaborative are invited to join this call.
