Jason T. Schaffer, MD, MBI, FACEP

Dr. Schaffer is an Emergency Physician and CMIO of the IU Health Adult Academic Health Center. He also serves as one of the Associate CMIO’s for IU Health. Through a long career as an clinical teaching emergency medicine physician, Dr. Schaffer has taught many emergency medicine residents the finer points of Emergency Medicine. Over that time as well, he has helped deploy and optimize the IU Health Cerner implementation. In recent years, he has completed a Master of Biomedical Informatics degree in Clinical Informatics and is board certified in clinical informatics. His clinical interest is on acute cardiac presentations to the ED. His recent focus, however, has shifted to interoperability and delivery of the electronic medical record to the clinical end user. His philosophical approach is to make the lives of physicians, APPs, nurses and other providers better so that they can make our patients lives better.
