Saint Agnes Trinity Health: Data Mining to Manage HAIs

Reductions in healthcare-associated infections (HAI) do not just happen by chance, in fact prevention of HAIs is complex. Every hospital-based infection control program is required to implement an annual plan to reduce HAIs. Mandatory reporting of certain infections to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) by all 50 states has brought national attention to HAI morbidity and mortality. This session discusses and details how Saint Agnes Medical Center (SAMC) in Fresno, CA, added an electronic infection surveillance system to achieve HAI reductions and streamline mandatory reporting capabilities.
