Doug Watson joined the Arizona Division of CommonSpirit Health (formerly Dignity Health) in May 2017 with a distinguished career of progressive financial and operational leadership experience working with large health systems, health plans, physician practices and standalone hospitals. He brings experience in developing value based strategy, improving revenue and cash flows, successful mergers & acquisitions, risk and health insurance strategy development and creating cultural change. Doug has served as the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Development Officer and Chief Operating Officer within large health systems and led the business development team and provider division operations at the second largest healthcare clearinghouse. The Arizona Division of CommonSpirit Health is a complex integrated health system with over $6.5 billion in total revenue and a network of hospitals, health plan and ambulatory assets in Arizona.

As an auditor and consultant, Doug held primary responsibility for complex financial audits of hospitals and health systems, led practice teams and entire practice units at International accounting and consulting firms (Big 6) such as Arthur Andersen and Capgemini Ernst & Young and ECG. He has served as an expert in risk based contracting, clinically integrated Network (CIN) and ACO development and strategy as well as development of risk sharing and health plan agreements.

While a consultant, Doug led successful EHR implementations and the development of health system strategic and operating plans. His experience also encompasses leading strategic engagements with Intel, Microsoft and others to create innovative new businesses, software and hardware concepts.

Doug is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Oregon and California.
