Simon Gisby, Principal; Peter Micca, Partner; Boris Kheyn-Kheyfets, Healthcare Provider Strategy and Operations; and Christine Chang, MPH, Research Manager, Deloitte. Digital transformation is giving rise to new business models. Technological innovation has accelerated business transformation across nearly every industry and enabled new models that harness the power of platforms and ecosystems to deliver greater value to consumers. These platforms make the supplier of an underutilized asset easily accessible, whether it’s a vacant room or a published article. Instead of competing on supplier relationships, leading organizations now compete on unlocking underutilized assets to change or enhance the consumer experience. Platforms are a means to forge ecosystem plays. Many healthcare organizations are turning to ecosystem strategies wherein they do not need to own every asset on the platform, but do need to develop or use capabilities, products, and services beyond their core to achieve the same ends. Simon, Peter, Boris, and Christine explore these trends by presenting research into how leading health care organizations are approaching ecosystems and digital transformation. Through interviews with these leading organizations, their health tech startup collaborators, and health tech investors, the speakers will illuminate how these platform-enabled ecosystems could move the healthcare industry closer to the future of health.
