He also discusses an article recently published in a special issue of Health Affairs in November 2018 that is totally devoted to patient safety.  It outlines how current EHR data can be used to create a patient safety monitoring system that can detect harm in real time and predict harm before it occurs, as well as covers how this information can be shared in real-time with patients and families.
