COVID-19 and Health Disparities: Addressing Health Disparities Now, Preparing for Vaccination and Beyond at CCHMC

Rob Kahn, MD, MPH, Physician Lead, Community and Population Health, and Andy Beck, MD, MPH, Associate Professor & Attending Pediatrician, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.  The COVID-19 pandemic shines a light on disparities by race, ethnicity and poverty that have long been present across a range of health outcomes. To respond to COVID-19, from surge to vaccine, strategies that promote health equity must be identified and implemented in ways that make sense for patients, families, and communities. Here, Drs. Kahn and Beck discuss their team’s approach to addressing health disparities during the pandemic that are likely to have sustained relevance well after the virus recedes.
