EMR Usability: Beyond Counting Clicks

Despite the fact that 3,500 hospitals have met meaningful use (MU) Stage 1, providers often say EMRs lack clinical usability. KLAS interviewed 128 providers (specifically targeting medical leadership) about their success in reaching a high level of usability with their systems – that is, how well their EMR supports the efficient and effective delivery of the best possible patient care. This teleconference addresses usability at the time of the go- live, progress made since, vendor guidance, and the provider effort required. Special focus is given to MU functionality, including CPOE, physician documentation, problem lists, and medication reconciliation.
