Governing Optimization and Balancing Control with Throughput at Baycare

Once an EMR is implemented and live for a while the optimization process begins.  Optimization will hopefully make the EMR more efficient for your Physicians and other Clinicians and safer for your patients.  Getting optimization done while your team is doing code upgrades and patches, dealing with patient safety and regulatory items, and supporting clinical standardization can be challenging at best and impossible at worst if you don’t have a robust but efficient governance process.  Dr. Hindahl discusses clinical optimization, including the importance of having a governance process that approves and prioritizes optimization items, while keeping the process on schedule.
