HL7 implementation Update: The Role of Provider Organizations

Now more than ever interoperability plays a key role in healthcare and health IT.  Providers depend on a wide variety of HL7 standards and versions to accomplish internal connectivity, decision support, workstation integration, meaningful use objectives, HIE efforts, and innovation projects.  HL7 has strived to adapt to meet these needs.  Hans and Virginia are longtime members of HL7 and implementers from the vendor and provider perspectives.  They provide a “state of the standard” with a focus on HL7’s relevance and the important role providers play in shaping HL7. They also seek out ideas on how to help and engage implementers.
