Integrating the Enterprise: a University Hospitals Health System case study

Joe Casper, Senior Vice President, FCG, describes the evolution of a clinical portal solution at University Hospitals in Cleveland, now in use by over 2,100 users, with plans to support over 7,500 users and four additional hospitals in 2006. UHHS will anchor the metropolitan Cleveland RHIO as one of the key sites in the National Health Information Network prototype in 2006. The long term goal is to integrate all health delivery in the Northeastern Ohio region into a common information exchange – through expansion of the existing federated architecture at UHHS. Ambulatory, acute care, home health and under/uninsured delivery will participate.
