John Fowler, Deputy Information Security Officer, Henry Ford Health System. Today, security is in the forefront of everyone’s mind; however, mostly for the wrong reasons. Organizations are too focused on regulatory requirements and the “what if” or “what did happen” as reported in the press. As such, security is seen as a necessary evil or simply a non-value added cost of doing business. Rather than focusing on the “carrot or stick” approach to engaging the business, this presentation focuses on the both the soft and business skills required to engage the business, the true value-add that security can bring in partnering with the business, and real world examples of how security can save the organization money.
