John McConnell, Editor-In-Chief, Lancet Infectious Diseases.  Since the spring of 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic has entered a new phase with widespread roll-out of vaccines—at least in high-income countries—providing protection against severe disease and death, but the more transmissible delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 becoming dominant across the world.  The webinar discusses the current epidemiology of the pandemic, the impact of vaccination and new treatments against COVID-19, and speculates on the future of the disease.
