INTRODUCTION | As armchair futurists for healthcare’s “new normal,” we have plenty to speculate on what elements will remain post-COVID, ranging from telehealth and virtual visits to remote monitoring and the home hospital. However, one sure-fire component of the new normal is advanced analytics, specifically real-time, data-driven decision-making. A key to health systems’ quick pivot in response to the COVID pandemic was their almost-overnight ability to develop data-driven executive dashboards for real-time decision-making.
Interviews with Sentara Healthcare, UChicago Medicine and Intermountain Healthcare validate this momentous shift and highlight the drama behind data and analytics, which we found is anything but dry.
