Remote Work: Bill Wilson’s Leadership at Stanford Children’s Health

0

Stanford Children’s Health is leading the charge in remote work solutions with Bill Wilson, MBA, FHIMSS, CHCIO, VP & CTO, at the helm. With ~1,200 employees (~21 percent of workforce) currently working remotely, the IS department was the only one with a remote work agreement pre-COVID. Through legal, HR and other guidelines, Wilson and his team have crafted a way to reduce office space by 30 percent and are aiming for 40 percent. Wilson’s focus is on creating a culture of excellence, while also ensuring tax-, regulatory-, compliance- and security implications are addressed. Through rotational onsite teams, shared cubes, and various user ‘bundles’ to best meet remote workers’ needs, Wilson has been able to foster an atmosphere of trust and professionalism, while still providing support to those returning to the office. Stanford Children’s Health is an inspiring example of remote work done right.
