Apparsamy Balaji provides strategic leadership to data management, business intelligence and customer facing technology, to drive long term data strategy and patient engagement, and increase BayCare’s competitive advantage. He is also responsible for innovative  technology implementations through portals and mobile platforms to improve the access-points for our patients and physicians. He is passionate about helping BayCare make data and analytics driven decisions and guides a data centric department to optimize evidence based decision making. These decisions and insights aim to improve the quality of care and patient satisfaction at  all of our hospitals and facilities.

Balaji has successfully led cross-functional teams in vertical markets around the globe to design and implement robust, cost-effective technical data management solutions. These solutions promote customer engagement, value-stream analysis, and identify and improve efficacy which ultimately impact the organization’s bottom line. He strives to make data an asset to maximize performance, quality, and integrity throughout the organization.

Balaji graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and earned his Master of Business Administration from the Northern Illinois University. He is active in various community organizations where he serves in leadership roles focused on technological and analytic strategies. His recent work at BayCare was documented in the book Demystifying Big Data and Machine Learning for Healthcare, which was released at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) in 2017. His team was also awarded the Gartner Data & Analytics Excellence 2016 Award for Best in Class – Domain Analytics. Balaji is married and has two sons. In their free time the family enjoys outdoor activities in the sunny Florida weather.
