Cathy Jennings is a clinical nurse specialist in Carilion Clinic’s Cardiovascular Institute, where she is responsible for patient, family and community education, implementation and study of evidence-based practice, and quality improvement and research. She also serves on Carilion’s Institutional Review Board and interdisciplinary quality council for cardiothoracic surgery.

Cathy joined Carilion in 1983 after completing a master’s degree in nursing at Duke University, and helped develop the clinical pathways for cardiovascular surgery that formed the foundation of what is today one of the nation’s top heart programs.

She holds a doctorate of nursing practice from Case Western Reserve University. Her work has been published in some of nursing’s most prestigious publications.
