Dan Liljenquist
SVP/Chief Strategy Officer, Intermountain Healthcare
Dan Liljenquist is Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer for Intermountain Healthcare. As a member of the Intermountain Executive Leadership Team he is responsible for guiding the process of setting and achieving the organization’s strategic priorities, as well as overseeing Intermountain’s Strategy, Corporate Development, Enterprise Project Coordination and Integration Management, Government Relations, and Care Transformation and Information Systems teams. Prior to joining Intermountain in 2012, Dan served in the Utah State Senate and was nationally recognized for his work on Medicaid and public-sector pension reforms.
He began his career as a consultant at Bain & Company before joining Affiliated Computer Systems to lead operational strategy for its commercial solutions division. He also served as president and chief operating officer of FOCUS Services LLC, a direct sales support and call center services provider, and later founded Liljenquist Strategies, a strategy consulting company focused on public sector pension and benefits reforms.
Dan is the lead architect and Board Chair of Civica Rx, an initiative to create a not-for-profit generic drug company to “ensure that essential generic medications are available and affordable to everyone”. He is the lead author of Addressing Generic-Drug Market Failures – The Case for Establishing a Nonprofit Manufacturer, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in May 2018.
Dan received his Juris Doctorate from The University of Chicago Law School and his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brigham Young University. Dan and his wife, Brooke, are the parents of six children and reside in Bountiful, Utah.
