Chief Clinical Information Officer | Avera Health 

My professional experience includes 35 years in formal healthcare leadership to include serving for 10 years as Sr. VP of Hospital Operations & CNO for a 545 bed tertiary care medical center. My past two years have been dedicated to the role of Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) where I am responsible for the strategy, build and implementation of our next EMR platform called One AveraChart. The primary goal of this project is one medical record for the patient across the continuum of care as well as the continuum of geography of the Avera System.

As a leader in healthcare, several noteworthy accomplishments include the development of an Innovation Council which has implemented a number of innovation projects to include a system–wide voice/secure test solution across all settings of care on a mobile device.  I also led the successful journey for Avera’s tertiary care medical center (Avera McKennan) to its’ 4th consecutive Magnet Designation (one of 26 hospitals in world to claim this achievement and most recently led the Avera health system in earning the HIMSS level 7 Designation.

A believer of life-long learning as well as leading by example, I recently (2014) completed by Doctorate of Nursing Practice in Executive Leadership.
