Michael Thompson has over 25 years’ experience leading advanced analytics and data intelligence initiatives and teams. Harnessing his passion to ensure that access to data does not stand in the way of better decisions (and better care), his team’s work has been recognized internationally for the innovative use of data for the betterment of healthcare. He has co-authored multiple papers on healthcare data visualization and lectured at multiple academic and industry venues on advancing the maturity of data/analytics within healthcare. Currently, Mike is the Executive Director of Data Intelligence for Cedars-Sinai Hospital System in Los Angeles, where he guides the strategy, execution, and success of the organization’s use of data by clinical and administrative analytic functions. Mike’s multi-disciplined teams consist of physicians, nurses, statisticians, data scientists, data analysts, data engineers, and data warehouse developers. From descriptive analytics to predictive analytics, the goal is to ensure data is used at the point of impact. Mike completed his undergraduate work at the University of Nebraska and his graduate work in Predictive Analytics at Northwestern University.
