Nilesh Desai is the Chief Pharmacy Officer for Baptist health System. In this role, he is responsible for the pharmacy enterprise operations across the nine-hospital system, including oversight of the system’s ambulatory pharmacies, specialty pharmacy, research pharmacy, pharmacy technology and automation, value based care pharmacy, and medication management for all the clinics.

Under Nilesh’s leadership a number of projects have been implemented successfully that includes EPIC, BCMA, NDC billing, Interoperability between EPIC and Omnicell, Beacon Oncology, Talyst carousels, Omnicell technologies, E-Prescribing, Interoperability between EPIC and Alaris IV pumps, Compass Rose for Specialty Pharmacy, Value Based Care, 340b Systems and decentralized pharmacist teams. He also has overseen construction of USP compliant clean rooms for sterile and hazardous compounding and implemented USP 800. Nilesh also lead the effort to centralize and integrate all decision making on technology, training, educational materials, formulary standardization, medication management policies, workflows, EPIC build and standardization across the system for the pharmacy enterprise.

Nilesh is a recipient of The Gregory A. Santora New Jersey Pharmacist Leadership of the Year Award and HealthTrust Clinical Excellence Award for Transitions of Care. He has presented at many conferences nationally and has participated in many studies. Nilesh is a member of many National, Regional and Local Committees in different aspects of pharmacy practice.
