Peter Prina is director in information services at Spectrum Health, a $6.5 billion not-for-profit integrated health system based in West Michigan. His focus is on enterprise information management and how Spectrum leverages data and analytics for strategic outcomes. Peter’s vision is that Spectrum Health leads the nation in its use and application of data and analytics across all of its service lines and functions, including 14 hospitals, a multispecialty medical group with more than 1,500 physicians and advanced practice providers, a variety of ambulatory, post-acute, and ancillary health care services, and a 800,000 member health plan.

Background

Peter joined Spectrum Health in 2014. He has partnered with advanced analytics teams to promote data driven decision making and helped advance business intelligence and analytics capabilities. His work includes the execution of the system’s strategic priorities, including implementation of data and analytics to support an integrated clinical and revenue cycle system and the creation and use of shared clinical and health plan data.

Prior to joining Spectrum Health Peter served as a consultant where he led efforts to build and implement data warehouses, devised business intelligence solutions, and led business process transformations. His career includes undergraduate and graduate class instruction at local colleges and universities.

Peter holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. He was also awarded masters’ degrees in business administration with a focus in entrepreneurship and science in information systems management from Loyola University in Chicago. He also holds a project management professional designation from the Project Management Institute.

Peter is involved with the Healthcare Data & Analytics Association and is also a board member of multiple local non-profits.
