Sr. Director, Social Determinants of Health & Wellness, Methodist Le Bonheur

Sandra Madubuonwu, PhD, APRN, is a Sr. Director, Social Determinants of Health & Wellness at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare System in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a Robert Wood Johnson Future of Nursing Scholar and a 2019 Runyan, Jr. Community Nursing Award recipient from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She is recognized at the local, state, and national levels for producing verifiable positive outcomes for families and children with multiple health and well-being risk factors through multiple programs and initiatives. Dr. Madubuonwu oversees several initiatives and programs that address health equities, social determinants of health, adverse childhood experiences, maternal and infant mortality and chronic disease self-management for Methodist Healthcare System. She builds strategic and coordinated partnerships with communities to reduce health disparities.

Dr. Madubuonwu serves as both a leader in the Methodist- Le Bonheur Healthcare system and in the Shelby County community.  She is a member of many state initiatives that address the needs of vulnerable families in the community, including Home Visitation Leadership Alliance of Tennessee, Association of Infant Mental Health Tennessee, Tennessee Breastfeeding Coalition, and Building Strong Brains Tennessee amongst many others. She is a Board Member with Mother’s Milk Bank of Tennessee, Appleseeds Memphis, Neighborhood Christian Center Memphis and Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA).

Dr. Madubuonwu has a passion for education and teaching. She was a former Clinical Instructor with the College of Nursing University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She is a Master Trainer on Chronic Disease Self- Management. She holds  a Ph.D. with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Memphis, TN.
