Dr. Susan Stafford brings to the Cizik School of Nursing at The University of Texas Health Science Center Houston several years of nursing, leadership and informatics experience. She has 35 years of nursing practice, nursing informatics and extensive leadership experience. Dr. Stafford holds two ANCC board certifications as an Informatics Nurse and Nurse Executive Advanced. She has experience as a nurse executive with large academic health systems, and a commercial electronic health record company. Her clinical background includes neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, acute pediatric care nursing, as well as school nursing.
Dr. Stafford received her BSN from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. She earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and a MPA from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Dr. Stafford earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice in executive leadership from Cizik School of Nursing at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). She is currently an Assistant Professor, Clinical in the Graduate Studies Department.
She and her husband and have four children, 10 grandchildren, our dog Nellie and our cat Reecie. Two of our children are military veterans, both having served in Iraq and Kuwait. Our son-in-law is a Captain in the US Army and currently deployed to South Korea. I enjoy the country and anything outdoors.
