Thomas Selva, MD, CMIO for University of Missouri Health Care, also serves as the medical director of the Tiger Institute for Health Innovation. Selva received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed residency training in pediatrics at the MU School of Medicine. A board-certified pediatrician, Selva joined MU in 1992. He is a Professor of Clinical Child Health at the MU School of Medicine and continues to practice pediatric medicine.
Since Dr. Selva’s appointment as chief medical information officer in 2012, the health system has reached numerous milestones in the adoption of information technology.
Selva has published five peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals and delivered more than 100 presentations on clinical and IT topics, among others. In 2015, he was one of three national leaders selected by Healthcare IT News readers to receive the publication’s “Enhancing Patient Care Through IT” award.
