Veronica (Roni) Kiarie, serves as the System Director of Clinical Informatics at Advocate Aurora HealthCare (AAH). AAH is one of the 10th largest not-for-profit, integrated health system in the United States. With headquarters in Illinois and Wisconsin AAH has 28 hospitals, 500 outpatient locations, 63 Walgreens Clinics and 784,000 patient portal users. Roni oversees day to day operations for the clinical informatics teams supporting providers and caregivers for three large hospitals in their Central Chicagoland Region. In addition to the at the elbow support and training, she is also responsible for adoption and sustainment of new processes, and clinical technologies for the enterprise.

Roni has been with Advocate Aurora HealthCare since 2008 serving on a variety of System and Site council where she places a high focus on patient safety and clinical quality. In 2010 she moved from bedside nursing to Clinical Informatics where she has demonstrated success in increasing physician and clinician utilization of the EMR. She is a respected Health Informatics leader with experience in workflows, clinical system implementation, EHR education and optimization in both the community and academic center environments. Her leadership has been instrumental in the achievement of HIMSS level 7 for EMR adoption, attestation of Meaningful Use, Interdisciplinary plans of care, a systemwide nursing documentation simplification project and, most recently, their upcoming transformation from Cerner to Epic.

Roni has worked as a Professional Registered Nurse for over 20 years in a variety of roles including Emergency Medicine and Neonatal Intensive care. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Olivet Nazarene University and is currently a student at the Westerns Governs University where she is working on her master’s in science of Nursing with a focus on Nursing Informatics. Roni lives in Oak Park, Illinois with her husband and 2 children. Caring for others is her lifelong goal, Roni and her family can be found assisting around the community with various organizations from Sickle Schmickle to local nursing homes.
